OUR STORY

Voluntary Action for Development (VAD) is a Ugandan not-for-profit, non-governmental organization founded in 1996 and fully registered with the NGO Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (File No. M1A/NB/1996/09/3545, Permit No. INDP 16/53545 NB).

We work primarily in Central and North-Eastern Uganda, including the Teso and Karamoja sub-regions, serving communities in the districts of Amuria, Kapelebyong, and Napak. Over the years, VAD has earned a strong reputation for transparency, accountability, and measurable impact.

Our work is rooted in community ownership and participatory development, with a special focus on vulnerable groups — including children and youth, women, persons with disabilities, people living with HIV/AIDS, and the elderly. We are committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and sustainability across all our programs.

Our Vision: A healthy, vibrant, and self-reliant community.

Our Mission: To empower underserved communities to achieve self-reliance through initiatives in health, education, livelihoods, and advocacy.
