Education
VAD, in collaboration with our partners, is committed to improving the learning environment for all children, with a special focus on the girl child. We will mobilize resources to enhance both physical and academic infrastructure in underserved schools and communities. This includes the construction of classroom blocks and teacher housing, provision of school feeding programs, and distribution of chairs, books, and other instructional materials.
To support girls’ continued education, we will implement comprehensive Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) services. These will include the construction of changing rooms and washrooms, distribution of hygiene items, and access to essential MHM support. Schools will also receive training and sensitization on menstrual hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS prevention, care, and management.
We install water and sanitation facilities in schools, ensuring gender-sensitive solutions by building separate latrines for boys and girls. Our programs will use a child-to-child approach to educate and raise awareness about menstrual hygiene and advocate for improved facilities and policies that benefit the girl child.
In addition, we will promote essential life skills such as communication, assertiveness, sex education, and HIV/AIDS awareness among adolescents. We will also empower child ambassadors to advocate for and support the most economically disadvantaged learners within their schools and communities.
