Mr. Benedict Male

Executive Director (1998-2023)
Benedict Male Nsereko served as the founding Executive Director of Voluntary Action for Development (VAD) for 25 years, guiding its growth from a small grassroots initiative in Wakiso District to a nationally recognized organization. Under his leadership, VAD expanded into multiple districts, forged lasting international partnerships, and empowered vulnerable communities through clean water access, improved sanitation, sustainable agriculture, and livelihoods support. His vision, resilience, and dedication have left a lasting legacy of empowerment and positive change that continues to shape VAD’s mission today.

Lilian Nakijoba

Executive Director
A dedicated Social Worker with 18 years in community development. She began with VAD in 2006 as a volunteer and rose through key roles including WASH Officer, Field Officer, Head of WASH, Deputy Programmes Manager, and Programmes Manager. On May 1, 2024, she became Executive Director following the retirement of Benedict Male. Passionate about marginalized communities, Lilian has built strong leadership and technical skills through extensive sector engagement.

Alex Kawomera Bogere

Regional Coordinator/Compliance
Alex supports the delivery of all our Regional programmes and also leads compliance department. His areas of interest include governance, compliance, male championing of Menstrual Hygiene Education, youth skilling and strengthening a culture of discipline and staff issues.

Ms. Nalubombwe Sarah

Finance Manager
Sarah handles our finances and is a qualified accountant. She has in-depth expertise in the Accounting & Finance with 17 years of practice. Nine of the 17 years has been at Managerial level. She is so acquainted with budgeting, reporting, finance projections, risk evaluation and management. Prior to working for VAD, Sarah worked at Micro finance and came with diverse knowledge and skills, which has been integrated in our Organisation.

Paul Bernard Eurien

MEL Officer
Paul joined VAD in 2022 as a MEL Officer, bringing valuable experience from similar organizations. In addition to his MEL role, he supports programme officers in delivering WASH and livelihood projects. Paul engages effectively with both communities and local leaders and communicates fluently in Ateso during field trainings, enhancing community participation and understanding.
Dauphine

Daphine Anyumel,

WASH Officer
Daphine has been working with VAD as a reservist volunteer for the last one and half years. She holds a Bachelors degree in Social Administration. She is so active in delivering WASH related programmes including Menstrual Health Education.
