Ambassadors’ Christmas Party (2017)

Ambassadors’ Christmas Party (2017)

Every year during the festive season, Voluntary Action for Development (VAD) in partnership with Signpost International through the Community Holistic Integrated Learning and Development (CHILD) project organize an Ambassadors’ Christmas party to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with the ambassadors, to share the love and also appreciate them for the good works of the year. The Christmas parties help these children to forget about their various hardships, challenges and focus on being children and having fun. The ambassadors are also given chance to share, learn and interact with one another, make new friends since they are from different schools and villages.

This year’s Christmas party took place on the 13th of December 2017 at Muguluka primary school located in Muguluka village, Bukondo parish of Namayumba sub-county found in Wakiso district. A total of 302 children (194 girls and 108 boys) attended the party. The party involved many activities such as speeches, face painting, dance and drama, singing, cake cutting, a variety of games i.e. the chair dance, rope pulling, sack race, dance competitions, gift giving  and of course eating and drinking. The celebrations kicked off with an opening prayer which was led by Nalukwago Jackie a pupil of God’s Love N/P School which was followed by opening remarks from Miss Namuksa Rhitah a VAD staff. Miss Zansanze Resty a resident of Katake village gave a speech on behalf of the parents. The children were grouped into four teams namely; Watermelon, Apple, Guava and Pineapple to guide in the smooth running of the day’s activities and also encourage team work among the children.

Excitement, love, happiness, team work, and so much more were witnessed as the children cheered on their team mates during the games, dance and drama sessions. Pineapple emerged as the winning team and was given a box of biscuits, packet of sweets and sodas for each team member, Guava team came second, Apple team came third and Watermelon team came last. The most outstanding players in each team and activity done were given water bottles, spoons/forks and stickers. After the games were done, the cake was cut and the day was crowned by gifting giving. Each child was given a towel as their take home Christmas gift. The closing prayer was led by Mulindwa Enock a pupil of Katuuso R.P.C. School who also opened up the closing dance together with the rest of the children. The Ambassadors were so grateful to Signpost and VAD for making their Christmas of the year 2017 a joyful one, Kasozi Vincent an ambassador had this to say, “I really love the Christmas holiday because I know VAD organizes a Christmas party each year and I get to eat meat, drink soda and play with my friends, i appreciate Signpost International and VAD for such a wonderful party.” Thank you Signpost, Thank you VAD.
